The story of the founder is a tale of rags to riches one based on hard work, straightforwardness, and dedication to work ethics. Born in a poor family, which did not have the means to finance his studies, the then young R P Kamat, 9 years old, abandoned his studies midway. He started his career in a small restaurant in Hubli in 1928. The same of which grew into the start of a dynasty in the year 1948 in a free and independent India. The same dynasty is today a household name in the country, "Kamat" Dynasty. From a small investment of Rs 8,000/- (which however was a big amount those days) in a Hubli restaurant, the group has grown into a huge banyan tree today. Its success all these years has been on dishes which are of high quality and which are available in different varieties. For the founder Sri Rangappa "Hygeine was Aim, "Great Satisfaction was Fame and Discipline was Game" and the end result has been the legend of Kamat.
