CMC to launch Biometric solutionsDec 02, 2002: CMC Computers has introduced biometric based solutions for time office applications and as security system for door access and visitor tracking applications. Other product range introduced by the company are figerprint scanning, barcode/magnetic stripe, proximity card and smart card readers. These products are designed to work with the avilable local areanetwork or telephone lines. Epson introduces new printerDec 16, 2002: Epson has introduced the Epson EPL 5900L, designed for the small office and home segment. This is the first of its kind of printer, aimed significantly at reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to this segment. The Epson EPL 5900L cartridge contains enough toner to last 6,000 sheets of paper while the photoconductor unit will last for 20,000 sheets more than twice as long as any other printer in this class. In addition, the Epson EPL-5900L has revolutionised the quality of monochrome printing using the MicroGray and BiriTech technologies at an impressive resolution of 1200 dpi. Siemens multi-slice scannerDec 23, 2002: Siemens has introduced a multi-slice CT scanner (Somatom Sensation 16), capable of acquiring 32 slices per second with sub-millimetre thickness, leading to fast coverage along with ultra high resolution. Along with volume, resolution and speed, the scanner runs on the syngo user interface software with integrated 3-D image processing that allows a wide range of clinical applications.
