epages News [Medical Halls] Needle-free Insulin device developed Jan 03, 2005: Diabetes is one of the most complicated ailments that has dogged humans since ages & one needs to take insulin to regular doses to keep it at bay.A new miraculous needle-free insulin device has been developed by a city based Shreya life Sciences Pvt Ltd, under the brand name Recosulin and a needle-free insulin delivery device, Recojet, here today.
The device was prepared by using advanced technology development by its USA-based collaborator, Biotechnology General Corporation (BTGC), now known as Savient Inc.
Company sources reveal that the finished product would be imported initially from Bioton, Poland & the group company, Shreya Biotech Pvt. Ltd., was setting up a Rs.60-crore facility at Pune for the manufacture of insulin crystals, with the commercial production was expected to commence by the year-end.
The price of a Recosulin vial of Rs.128 was expected to come down once the company starts commercial manufacture of the crystals. This year, the company was expecting to get five % share of the total Rs.250-crore market for human insulin products in the country & the device was India’s first needle-free insulin delivery device and poised to revolutionise insulin therapy.
